The Delta D888 Thread Sealant is a high-performance anaerobic thread sealant formulated to create reliable, leak-free threaded joints in hydraulic, pneumatic and general industrial systems. Supplied in a convenient 50ml bottle, it cures in the absence of air between close-fitting metal threads, producing a durable seal that resists vibration, pressure and fluid leakage.

Designed for professional use, Delta D888 is particularly effective on compressed air systems, making it an excellent choice for sealing threaded fittings on air compressors, airlines, filter regulators, valves, manifolds, pneumatic cylinders and air tools. Unlike PTFE tape, it will not shred or contaminate the system, providing a clean, permanent seal that helps maintain system efficiency and prevents costly air leaks.

Suitable for use on steel, brass and other metal threaded fittings, Delta D888 simplifies assembly while reducing the risk of leaks in demanding industrial environments. Whether you're installing a new compressed air network or maintaining existing equipment, this hydraulic-grade thread sealant delivers dependable, long-lasting performance.

Why Use Thread Sealant Instead of PTFE Tape?

Unlike PTFE tape, Delta D888 allows threaded fittings to be positioned exactly where required before the sealant cures. This is ideal when components such as pressure gauges need to remain upright, or air outlets and fittings need to face a specific direction. Once correctly aligned, simply leave the sealant to cure, creating a strong, leak-free seal without the fitting needing to be excessively tightened. This helps prevent overtightening and damaged threads, while also eliminating the risk of leaving fittings too loose, which can lead to costly compressed air leaks. Delta D888 provides a permanent seal that fills the microscopic gaps between threaded metal fittings, helping to eliminate air leaks without the risk of tape fragments entering the system. It also resists vibration, making it particularly well suited to compressed air installations where threaded joints are subjected to regular pressure cycling.

  • Prevents pressure loss in compressed air systems.
  • Excellent resistance to vibration and pressure cycling.
  • High resistance to chemicals commonly found in industrial environments.
  • Prevents threaded joints from loosening over time.
  • Cleaner and more reliable than PTFE tape for pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Cures without exposure to air once assembled.
  • Ideal for professional workshop and industrial maintenance applications.

Typical Applications

  • Compressed air systems
  • Air compressors
  • Filter regulators and lubricators (FRLs)
  • Pneumatic valves and manifolds
  • Hydraulic pipe fittings
  • Process plant pipework
  • Industrial fluid systems
  • Chemical processing plants
  • General engineering and maintenance

Instructions for Use

  1. Ensure all threaded components are clean, dry and free from oil or grease.
  2. Apply a continuous 360° bead to the male thread, leaving the first thread free.
  3. Work the sealant into the threads and apply a 360° bead to the female thread where possible.
  4. Assemble and tighten the fitting to the required orientation.
  5. Allow the sealant to cure before placing the system under full operating pressure.

Chemical Resistance

After curing, Delta D888 offers excellent resistance to many common industrial fluids:

  • Acetone: 100%
  • Ethanol: 95%
  • Motor Oil (125°C): 100%
  • Gasoline: 100%
  • Brake Fluid: 100%
  • Water/Glycol (87°C): 80–100%
